About us
The Foundation of Memory Sites Near Auschwitz-Birkenau was established in 2013 with the goal of rescuing items, objects, and artifacts related to the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and its subcamps, which are currently in the hands of private individuals.
The original area of operation of the entire camp system and subcamps of KL Auschwitz-Birkenau extended far beyond the boundaries of the present-day Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim. Many of these relics remain outside conservation control and require immediate care.
To achieve this mission and preserve as much as possible for future generations, the Foundation aims to raise funds for their conservation, protection, storage, and promotion.
The detailed framework for the Foundation’s activities is defined by the Foundation’s Statute and Program Concept. The Foundation also collaborates with local communities and international organizations to ensure the widest possible reach of its activities. The Foundation’s efforts are focused not only on preserving historical artifacts but also on educating and disseminating knowledge about the history of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
