73rd anniversary of brutal mass homicide at Female Penal Company in KL Auschwitz – Birkenau subcamp Budy – Bór

Posted on 2015-10-152024-09-09

It is another anniversary of brutal mass homicide at Female Penal Company in KL Auschwitz – Birkenau subcamp Budy – Bór. Fate of women from this Company was tragic from the very beggining. Each and every day they have been tortured both physically and psychically, and forced to hard labor, that exceeded their abilities.

In 1942, 5th of October, some things happen that were the most tragic in the whole history of the Penal Company. In the late evening, on the attic of former school building where the prisoners slept, one of the German function prisoners claimed, that she saw a rock in the hand of one of the Jewish inmates. A fight started, and the guards, called by the function prisoners, joined the regular massacre of French, Jewish inmates.

Terrified women were beaten without mercy with batons, axes, rifle butts, they were also shot at. Some of them were thrown through  the window, others were thrown down the stairs. Attacked women tried to escape, but the fence made it impossible for them,  they hung on the barbed wire.

The aftermath of the massacre was 90 casualties. The function prisoners, German convicts, tried to blame the victims, They testified that the French Jews attacked, and they have only defended themselves.

Our duty is to remember, and to remind about unmeasured cruelty of the perpetrators.
